Enhancing the Suction Power of Your Ducted Vacuum Cleaner
Posted on September 29, 2017
Vacuum cleaners are indispensible equipments in removing dirt, dust and debris both in the office and at home. However, with time these vacuum cleaners tend to lose their suction power and as such operate at a sub-optimal level. There are various reasons behind the loss of suction power amongst them poor maintenance and clogging of the vacuum system. This article looks at the routine maintenance that you can undertake to increase the suction power of your vacuum cleaner.
Emptying or Replacement of Dust collection bag
As you clean the dirt and dust off the surfaces, the dust collection bag of the vacuum cleaner fills up gradually. When it is completely full, this bag hinders air from passing through and this reduces the suction pressure and power. There are two options that you can settle for; you can either empty the bag or replace it. This will improve the suction pressure of the vacuum cleaner system.
Cleaning or Replacement of vacuum cleaner Filters
The filter component of the vacuum cleaner can become clogged with dust and dirt. This reduces its ability to get the job done. Some vacuum cleaner systems have removable filters that can be easily cleaned by brushing or passing them under water. In some instances, replacing the filter with a new one may be necessary. This is a sure way of enhancing the suction power.
Replace the Rubber Belt
The upright model of the vacuum cleaner comes fitted with a rubber belt. This is the belt that is responsible for rotating the beater brushes and collecting of dirt. With time, this belt can either wear out or even break thus reducing the effectiveness of the vacuum cleaner. You can either replace the belt to maximize the cleaning power or turn it inside out to extend its useful life before you purchase a new one.
Clean the Beater bar cover
When the beater bar is clogged with dirt and debris, it may stop rotating hence affecting the suction pressure of the vacuum cleaner. When this happens, you should remove and clean the cover over the beater bars to restore the suction power. In case of trapped hair on the cover, you should cut it with a utility knife or scissors before reinstalling it.
Apart from the above procedures, obstructions and clogs can also occur in the vacuum hoses of the ducted systems. This can obstruct the flow of air and ultimately the suction pressure. To solve this, you need to remove the attachments and hoses in order to clean the lodged debris and objects.
